So Say the Joyologists

So Say the Joyologists

When the righteous see God in action they’ll laugh, they’ll sing, they’ll laugh and sing for joy. — Psalm 68:3 MSG According to some joyologists (uh-huh, joyologists—those given to the promotion of joy), you can lose weight if you guffaw daily. So does this mean we can titter till our tummies tuck? Or better yet, chortle till the cellulite runs smooth? I’m afraid I’d have to be permanently hysterical to accomplish that task. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. — Genesis 1:27, 31 What turns the crank on your imagination? Perhaps stimulating conversations do. I’ve found intentional chat sessions helpful to stretch my mind in problem solving. That’s a healing form of art, for sure. When … Read entire article »

Turn the Light On

Turn the Light On

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? — Psalm 27:1 “Fear has friends,” I warn women when I address the topic of being afraid. I’d like to offer you a shortcut. When you are afraid, don’t give in … Read entire article »

Recently, I was stopped in my steps by a poster touting these words: “Ships are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships were built for.” Sometimes we don’t feel built for storms, but thank God He’s in control of us and them. — Patsy Clairmont (All Cracked Up) … Read entire article »

Breathing Space by Patsy Clairmont

Breathing Space by Patsy Clairmont

We all need breathing space from our routines, relatives, and other relationships. But here’s my biggest struggle: how to get away from me. I often get on my own nerves. When I start to gripe at myself, I sometimes head for the beauty parlor, maybe because it’s such a girly thing to do. Of course I enjoy the personal attention and usually the results. Besides, it gives me a mini breathing space. I think every woman … Read entire article »
