AdvoCare: Way Beyond Vitamins

Jenny Donnelly

“It’s not uncommon,” Jenny Donnelly says, “for me to be on the phone with a woman who needs help and direction in her life.” Is Jenny a counselor, women’s ministry leader, or member of a pastoral staff? No―she’s an AdvoCare distributor.

You might not expect this to be part of a health and wellness company offering energy, weight-loss, nutrition products, and a business opportunity. But Jenny says helping people is her favorite aspect of what she does each day. “That’s been the best—to have that significant part where you’re able to help women on all different levels, not just nutrition. When you help somebody become debt-free or you’re helping them pay off their credit card bills or you help them become a stay-at-home mom, you are able to influence other areas of their life.”

That’s a result Jenny never expected when her dad introduced her to AdvoCare. “My first impression was, ‘It’s going to be like everything else that doesn’t work.’ It was kind of a courtesy thing: OK Dad, I’ll check these out for you.” She was shocked to discover the AdvoCare line “wasn’t just a way to help someone lose weight; it was fueling somebody’s body with nutrition. It’s about as opposite from a diet pill as you can get.”

Jenny and her husband joined the AdvoCare team—and three months later quit their day jobs to go full-time. “We came from a place where our checks were bouncing . . . it was absolutely pathetic the situation we were in. We didn’t know how we were going to pay off our debt. When AdvoCare came along we became debt-free in a couple of months.”

That was ten-and-a-half years ago. Now in their mid-thirties, the couple has three children and a lifestyle most only dream about. “Having the income, lifestyle, and freedom we have is amazing—that’s like a ‘pinch me’ thing, Jenny says. “But what’s kept us going is the people: to be a small piece of helping someone else achieve their dreams, being integrated and woven into somebody’s life . . . that goes way beyond vitamins.”

Jenny has come to multiple Women of Faith events in the past and expects to attend more! Maybe you’ll see her there! Meanwhile, she encourages us, “While other people might try to turn you into something else, have the courage to be everything God made you to be―so you can live life to the fullest and be the best you.”
