October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Happy Birthday to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, celebrating 25 years of awareness, education, and empowerment. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection. More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. Since the program began in 1985, mammography rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older. As a result, breast cancer deaths are on the decline. If you’re age 40 or older, join the millions of women who get mammograms on a regular basis. And remember Anita Renfroe’s sage advice: “After you’ve had your mammogram, go out and eat some Mexican food. Those babies will plump right back up!”
