Mary’s Blog: We’re Headed to Rochester!

We’re going to Rochester tomorrow to spend the weekend. Here’s what I love about Rochester: There’s a group of women who used to join us in Hartford every year. They LOVE Women of Faith and asked us every year to PLEASE come to Rochester. I, quite honestly, didn’t want to be discouraging but I thought, there is NO way. We love Hartford and, frankly, I assumed Rochester was just too close for us to do both cities. So I just kept saying, “We’ll look at that.” One day we did.

And as it turned out, when we did a little research, it was quite possible to do both weekends in the Northeast! So now, about 5 years later, we’re headed up to Rochester, New York this weekend for our 4th Women of Faith event there. And, based on what’s happened so far all year, this weekend will be the best yet.

We’ve made great friends, connected with a lot of people, and had wonderful weekends together. If you’ve been before, be sure and come again. Dr. Henry Cloud, Marilyn Meberg and Sandi Patty will share the day on Friday. It’s an outstanding combination of life-changing input and good humor.

Friday night and Saturday, in addition to our regular lineup, we’ll pull out all the stops with a concert with Steven Curtis Chapman (including his very moving story.) And, we’ll also hear from new guests, Lisa Whelchel, Lisa Harper and Mandisa.

You may already have registered, or you may not even be in the area but I was thinking about it today and thinking if you haven’t registered and it’s possible for you to get to the arena, we’d love to see you there. Give us a call @ Women of Faith (888-49FAITH) or, just show up!

(BTW, one of my favorite moments ever was at the Rochester event. Did you happen to be there when I let Natalie Grant’s puppy do a trick on the platform? If you were there, you know it was a showstopper! AND, it just goes to show you just never know what can happen in an arena with a few thousand Women of Faith.)

Just back from Rochester! Mary, this year’s conference will stand out in my mind as one of the best year’s I’ve been to WOF! (Okay, The Joyful Journey was an experience I will NEVER forget!!!) I’ve only missed one conference – our group has traveled to Pittsburgh (that first year) and then to Cleveland, Buffalo, Albany…it’s SO nice to have a conference in our intimate little arena in our own backyard!! And what a special blessing to be recognized on stage as a group leader from one of the larger groups – as one lady in my group said – “Cool, you got to hug the WOF ladies!!” Quite honestly, some of those interim years were very enjoyable but didn’t always stand out…I have really enjoyed the addition of Steve Arterburn and Henry Cloud to the line-up – the Friday Feature was wonderful this year. I was privileged to hear Henry Cloud a couple of years ago and excited to know that he was coming again. As my friend said, seems like conferences are going deeper than they used to – offering real solutions – including New Life conference option – not just “be happy” but in order to be happy, you have to address the junk. I was moved to tears by the questions asked – so much pain enclosed in those walls for the weekend. I was also moved to tears by “the Proposal” – what a great memory that will be for them. Loved the addition of Lisa Harper – she made up for Luci not being there, well, almost :-) . All the speakers were great, loved Steven Curtis Chapman concert, and Mandisa…the honesty, the tears, the joy that make Women of Faith a truly memorable weekend.

I am so excited for WOF this year! I attended for the first time 2 years ago and it was the most amazing and life changing event I have ever been to. Thank you so much for looking into Rochester!
